Between miles 12 and 13 lies Wellesley College and its extremely enthusiastic students. Runners approaching this mile marker can hear the roar of the crowd get louder and louder as they make their way around the bend. Students line the course and shout encouragements to runners as they pass by.
The course is relatively flat through this section with slight ups and downs along the way.

If you're doing the math in your head and realizing that you still have another 14 miles to go, don't lose heart. There is a wall of sound like you've never heard before awaiting you on the right side of the road, just before you hit Wellesley Center. We're talking row upon row of screaming Wellesley college students, complete with signs and cheers of encouragement. This is commonly known as the "Scream Tunnel." It's the next best thing to an adrenaline shot.
If I'm not mistaken, during this mile the staging over the course is where the photographers take lots of pictures. When you see the staging, look up, wave and SMILE!!
Wellesley marks the halfway point for the race and is a popular place to watch the race for the college kids at Wellesley, and in the town center. There are also several parks and hills along this route that afford a great view of the runners on their way.
